Das Ellen-Forum

Knapp zwei Wochen, nachdem Ellen in ihrer Show erzählt hat, dass sie gern heiraten würde, scheint sie ihrem Ziel jetzt ein ganzes Stück näher gekommen sein. Das Oberste Verfassungsgericht Kaliforniens hat heute das Verbot von Eheschließungen zwischen gleichgeschlechtlichen Partnern gekippt und damit den Weg frei gemacht (Spiegel Online: Oberster Gerichtshof kippt Verbot von Homo-Ehe).

Ellens Reaktion gegenüber dem schwullesbischen Magazin Advocate:

“I’m thrilled that the California supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote.

Only two weeks after she told her audience that she’s engaged and would love to get married, Ellen’s dream seems to become reality. The California Supreme Court overruled the state’s ban on gay marriage today, which means that gay couples will have to be allowed to marry just like straight couples.

In a statement for the Advocate, Ellen said:

Ellen hat in dieser Woche ihre 800. Show gefeiert und hatte u.a. “Desperate Housewife” Nicolette Sheridan zu Gast. Nachdem das Interview zunächst ein klein wenig anders verlief als geplant, ging es unter anderem um das Thema Verlobung, und Ellen erfreute ihr Publikum (und ihre Fans) mit der Aussage, dass auch sie verlobt sei und nur darauf warte, endlich legal heiraten zu dürfen.

Ellen celebrated her 800th show this week. Her guest was “Desperate Housewife” Nicolette Sheridan. During the interview, that in the beginning took a hilarious turn (two words: Silly String), Ellen stated that she is engaged and just waiting for gay marriage to be legal to get married.
